Cure your Hemorrhoids

1. Squat to defecate when you are home, or whenever possible. To mimic the squat pose on an American toilet, put feet up on a stool which can be kept near the toilet for that purpose. Squatting is the natural posture for complete elimination as well as urination and has the power to cure problems of elimination such as diarrhea, constipation, bladder retention, etc.

2. Avoid dry toilet paper. At home if/when possible, after a bowel movement, rinse the anal sphincter muscle (and your fingers) with water from an houseplant watering can kept by the toilet for this purpose. Make sure all the fecal matter is rinsed away from the folds of the anus. Pat dry with toilet paper of tissue paper. Wash your hand well with soap and water.

3. Respecting the Earth element and the Root Chakra and treating them right can foster your freedom of mind. Therefore, after a bowel movement or urination pull up on the pubo-cocygeal muscle/uro-genital diaphragm a few times. This “seals” and chi/energy leak from the two lower gates.

4. Rub a few drops of Castor Oil into the anus after a bowel movement and/or before sleep. If a hemorrhoid is present, you may even coat a finger with the castor oil and gently insert it into the anus and message slowly. Have the intention of “moving blood and energy in the lower body.” If the hemorrhoid needs contractive influence, try adding 1 drop of Cypress Essential Oil per 1 teaspoon of castor oil.

5. Take Triphala for 2 – 3 months; off for one month; then back on if necessary, for the rest of your life. Find the dosage and the form in which is best for you to take Triphala. Normal would mean having 2 – 3 bowel movements each day; self-regulate based on this. You can start with 20 drops 2X/day of ColonKlin*, ¼ 2X daily in warm water of the powder or 1 capsule (or tablet) 2X daily with warm water. If diarrhea is present, mix Triphala in ghee before taking it. Triphala means “three fruits” and is a gentle, safe laxative except for during pregnancy or during a fever.

6. To lubricate the colon and to give prana to the bones and nerves, gently squirt 1 oz. sesame oil into the anus at night before sleep. Use an ear syringe (available at most pharmacies) and draw up the warm (never hot) sesame oil. Coat the applicator with some of the oil, lie on your left side, insert the applicator, squeeze gently and withdraw. (Both men and women can wear a pad in their underwear during sleep, but usually very little, if any, leaks out. The colon has a drying tendency, especially as we age, and the oil will be readily absorbed.) Continue to lie on the left side for 5 minutes, then on your back for 5 minutes, then on your right for 5 minutes, then fall asleep. Expect an oily bowel movement the next day. This is of great benefit during acute back pain, when there is chronic tightness, when there is constipation from dryness, and when excessive fear/anxiety is present in the mind.

7. Consult your health practitioner for any extensive dietary advice that needs to be given in cases of chronic diarrhea or constipation is present. Many other conditions can be underlying causes. However, with either condition you should avoid white sugar, white flour, and white salt. When constipated: avoid astringent contractive foods like black tea. Do have plenty of soups, stews, and high quality liquids. Keep hydrated. When diarrhea occurs: avoid hot/spicy and oily foods. Do have plenty of high quality liquids such as herbal teas; have simple meals. And again, keep hydrated.
