Care of the Mouth
1. Do see your dentist regularly.
2. Floss every time you brush. Avoid toothpaste with artificial colors, sweeteners, flavors, sodium laureth sulphates. Do use toothpaste with rejuvenative qualities. My favorites are toothpastes by Young Living Essential Oils: Ultraoma and Kidscents. Call 585 256 2841 to order.
3. After flossing and brushing, you may rinse with Phytodent (from Herbalist and Alchemist – 800 611 8235). Experiment with what dilution works for you – as strong as 1 oz. Phytodent to 3oz. water. Swish a tablespoon or so around the mouth for 1 minute then spit it out. If a particular gum or tooth is painful, swollen, inflamed, or infected you may pput one or more drops of undiluted Phytodent on the affected area until you get to the dentist (or even after you have gone). Note that this burns somewhat….
4. If a problem persists or there is an acute toothache, apply 1 drop of clove oil (or Thieves Oil from Young Living) directly on the affected area. You can apply less than one drop in any given area by dipping a wooden (not plastic) toothpick into the oil and “painting” it onto the tooth or gum. Some of the tea tree oil or cinnamon oil treated toothpicks are modeled after this idea.
5. If vatagenic dryness persists in the mouth, you may swish 1 oz. or so of sunflower oil around the mouth for a few minutes then spit it out. Massage the gums with your index finger. This promotes blood flow and energy flow locally, thereby healing the mouth.
